Linktree Visits DC for the White House Creator Economy Conference
This past Wed. Linktree was invited to the White House’s first ever Creator Economy Conference where 100 creators and industry professionals gathered to discuss the most pressing creator economy issues. This marks a significant milestone in creators’ efforts towards receiving the same level of policy consideration that traditional talent, media, and entertainment folks have been given for years. In a 40-minute visit from President Biden himself, he acknowledged that creators are revolutionizing the way we consume the news by sharing that his grandchildren “don’t read the same newspapers or watch the same television I do. They listen to all of you,” referring to the creators in the audience.
Inside The White House
The conference featured a series of panels and breakout sessions on key topics such as mental health, AI, and pay transparency. Creators shared their personal encounters with online bullying and emphasized the need to educate younger generations on how to use social media compassionately, rather than teaching creators coping mechanisms to block out online hate. Conversations were led on creators’ desire for fair pay and the challenges surrounding earning a living wage in the digital age. In turn, the administration is advocating for initiatives that make it easier for creators to get approved for loans and access to benefits like healthcare.
A Creator-First Future
Just as President Biden acknowledged the profound impact creators have on the U.S. economy – valued at $250 billion and projected to double in the next few years – Linktree recognizes the billions of dollars our users drive to online retailers and ecommerce sites on our platform each year. Linktree creators are monetizing their product recommendations and earning commission by building and curating their Linktree Shops. They’re also able to obtain a more meaningful understanding of their audience through advanced analytics features, strengthening their brand deals. We remain committed to ensuring creators are getting paid what they’re worth, and through the feedback we hear every day, we’re continuously working to be a resource beyond your link-in-bio to help you unify, monetize, and grow your online brands.
